Reports indicate that U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, another Connecticut Democrat, was also targeted by similar bomb threats. The U.S. Capitol Police have not yet provided a comment on the matter.
In addition to the Connecticut lawmakers, several individuals connected to President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet and transition team were also targeted by bomb threats and “swatting” incidents this week. “Swatting” involves making false reports to trigger a heavily armed police response at a person’s home.
A spokesperson for the Trump transition team confirmed that these threats occurred on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the incidents.
