AGBOR: The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old woman, Joy Anthony, over alleged drug trafficking in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State
Anthony was arrested by operatives of the command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU) following credible intelligence regarding alleged illicit drug activities in the area.
The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, disclosed the arrest, saying the operatives conducted a covert operation in Agbor before executing a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in Agbor-Obi.
According to Edafe, the search led to the recovery of a large quantity of substances suspected to be illicit drugs.
The police spokesperson said the items recovered from the residence included Swinol, tramadol, codeine, Canadian Loud and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
He said the suspect and the recovered exhibits had been taken into police custody as investigations continued.
Edafe added that the police would conclude their investigation before charging the suspect to court.
The arrest is part of ongoing operations by the Delta State Police Command aimed at tackling drug-related activities and other forms of criminality across the state.
Authorities have continued to urge residents to provide credible information that could assist security agencies in identifying and disrupting criminal activities within their communities.
