Onanuga Mocks NDC Over Alleged Missing Manifesto

ABUJA: Bayo Onanuga has criticised the Nigeria Democratic Congress, accusing the opposition platform of lacking a concrete programme for Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement issued on Friday, Onanuga described the NDC as a camp for the politically displaced and desperate, while questioning the party’s preparedness to govern the country.

The presidential aide’s comments come amid growing political attention surrounding the NDC following the reported defection of Peter Obi and former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso from the African Democratic Congress to the new platform.

According to Onanuga, the NDC has failed to distinguish itself from the ADC because it has yet to present a clear ideological direction or governance blueprint for Nigerians.

Like ADC, the NDC has no plan for Nigeria yet,” he stated.

Onanuga explained that he visited the party’s website on two occasions to review what he described as the party’s proposed vision for governance and compare it with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

However, he claimed that attempts to download the party’s manifesto were unsuccessful.

No document found’ was the response I got each time I tried to download the manifesto,” he said.

The presidential spokesman also questioned why the party had not uploaded a full manifesto despite reportedly securing court registration in February and publicly speaking about offering Nigerians an ideological alternative in 2027.

According to him, the only policy direction currently visible on the party’s website consists of six policy points presented as pillars, which he argued lacked depth and originality.

He further claimed that the ideas resembled the themes repeatedly promoted by Peter Obi in recent years.

Despite the criticism, Onanuga said he still looked forward to seeing the NDC eventually unveil a comprehensive vision and mission for Nigeria.

The remarks come amid intensifying political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with emerging opposition alliances continuing to reshape discussions around the country’s political landscape.
