Eight Children Killed in US Domestic Violence Shooting

SHREVEPORT: At least eight children have been killed in a shooting incident linked to domestic violence in Shreveport, located in the southern US state of Louisiana.

The tragic घटना occurred early Sunday morning around 6:00 a.m. local time, and is being described as the deadliest mass shooting in the United States in over two years, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive.

Authorities said the suspected gunman, believed to be an adult male, was later shot dead by police following a car chase. Officials confirmed that he was the only person responsible for the shootings.

Police spokesperson Chris Bordelon stated that the crime scene spanned three different residences, making the investigation complex and extensive.

The victims were aged between one and 14 years. Two additional individuals were injured by gunfire, though their conditions remain unclear. Some of the children were reportedly related to the suspect.

After the shootings, the suspect allegedly carjacked a vehicle and attempted to flee before police intercepted and fatally shot him. No officers were injured during the operation.

Authorities described the incident as a domestic disturbance, adding that more details would be released once the victims’ families have been notified.

According to reports by KTBS, two of the injured victims are adult women who sustained gunshot wounds to the head. Another child was injured after jumping from a rooftop while trying to escape.

Reacting to the tragedy, US Senator Bill Cassidy described the event as horrific violence and extended his wishes for the recovery of the injured.

Meanwhile, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry said he was heartbroken by the incident.

Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux also expressed grief, stating that the city mourns with the affected families.
