The Nigerian Air Force has intensified its counterterrorism campaign in the North-East, launching coordinated airstrikes that destroyed suspected terrorist hideouts and logistics bases in parts of Borno State and Adamawa State.
The air operations, conducted on May 19, targeted terrorist strongholds located in Bukar Meram in the Southern Tumbuns area and Chikide in the Mandara Mountains under the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai.
According to the Nigerian Air Force, the strikes were carried out after credible intelligence reports and surveillance missions confirmed the presence of terrorist logistics hubs, structures and gathering points hidden within the affected locations.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, Ehimen Ejodame, said the operation led to the neutralisation of several terrorists while also disrupting planned attacks in the region.
The statement noted that multiple operational facilities and logistics structures used by insurgents were successfully destroyed during the offensive.
The strikes were based on credible intelligence and confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions which identified terrorist logistics hubs, structures and assembly points concealed within the locations,” the statement said.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the Air Force’s commitment to sustained military operations aimed at restoring peace and security across the North-East.
According to him, intelligence-led air offensives would continue to target terrorist enclaves, logistics networks and operational bases used by insurgents across conflict-prone areas.
Aneke stressed that the Nigerian Air Force would maintain pressure on terrorist groups until lasting peace and stability are achieved in the region.
The latest operation comes amid renewed security concerns following recent attacks and abductions linked to terrorist groups operating in parts of northern Nigeria.
