A female realtor identified only as Esther has been tragically killed after being abducted by kidnappers in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident occurred on Monday, March 24, 2025, near the Admiralty University of Nigeria, where Esther had been inspecting a piece of land.
According to reports , Esther was accompanied by three colleagues during the land inspection. While they were on their way back, the group was ambushed by gunmen. The assailants opened fire on their vehicle, causing the others to flee, but Esther was forcibly taken by the kidnappers.
A source close to the situation revealed, They were on their way back from the inspection when they were attacked. The gunmen shot at the vehicle, and while the others managed to escape, Esther was taken.
In the aftermath of the ambush, one of the escapees was reportedly injured by gunfire and is now in critical condition in a local hospital.
The Nigeria police responded swiftly to the incident, sending officers to rescue the victim. However, according to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, the officers attempting the rescue were also ambushed by the kidnappers.

During the exchange of fire, one police officer was injured, but fortunately, there were no fatalities. SP Edafe confirmed the details, saying, Yes, it’s confirmed.
Some police officers who were going for the rescue of the victim were ambushed, and one police officer was shot, but no one died.
Despite the law enforcement’s efforts, there have been disturbing developments regarding Esther’s fate. Delta State activist Comrade Victor Ojie, also known as Wong Box, has since claimed that Esther has been killed by the kidnappers.
In a somber Facebook post on Tuesday, March 25, Ojie wrote, ESTHER IS DEAD. HER LIFELESS BODY HAS BEEN RECOVERED AND WILL HOPEFULLY BE DEPOSITED AT THE MORTUARY. MAY GOD CONSOLE THE FAMILY SHE LEFT BEHIND. SHE WAS A GRADUATE AND HAD FINISHED HER NYSC.
Esther’s tragic death has left her family, friends, and colleagues in mourning. She was a promising young woman, recently completing her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, and was working as a realtor in the area.
Her untimely death highlights the growing security concerns in Delta State and the increasing prevalence of kidnapping in the region.
