The All-Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed that its National Assembly Primaries Appeal Committee for Delta State has received five formal petitions from aggrieved aspirants and stakeholders following the party’s recently concluded primaries in the state.
Chairman of the committee, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ujam, disclosed this while addressing journalists at the APC state secretariat in Asaba on Tuesday, noting that the panel had already commenced the review of complaints submitted over alleged irregularities in the primaries.
According to him, the committee is actively processing the petitions as part of its mandate to ensure internal dispute resolution and maintain party stability after the competitive nomination exercises.
We have been receiving petitions and we will prepare our reports later. The process is still ongoing because the day is not yet over,” Ujam said.
He explained that the appeal panel was constituted in line with APC guidelines to handle grievances arising from the conduct of the National Assembly primaries in Delta State, adding that the process was designed to strengthen transparency and fairness within the party structure.
Ujam noted that the committee first arrived in the state after the House of Representatives primaries and later reconvened following the senatorial primaries to continue its assignment across constituencies.
As we receive the petitions, we are already reviewing them and making our notes on each one, he said, while declining to disclose details of the complaints, citing the sensitivity of ongoing deliberations.
He added that each petition would be thoroughly examined before any conclusions are reached, stressing that due process would be followed in line with party rules.
The appeal process forms part of the APC’s internal conflict resolution mechanism aimed at addressing grievances that typically arise after tightly contested primaries. The committee is expected to compile its findings and submit a comprehensive report after completing its review of all submissions.
