Adeboye Hails Donald Trump as ‘Best Politician’ He Has Ever Known, Says He Always Keeps His Promises

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has described United States President Donald Trump as the best politician he has ever known, saying the American leader stands out because he follows through on the promises he makes.

Speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala, organised by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington, D.C., on June 23, Adeboye said his admiration for Trump is rooted in the president’s decisiveness rather than agreement with all of his policies.

According to the respected cleric, Trump has built a reputation for saying exactly what he intends to do and taking action without hesitation.

I’ve never met Trump, but I’ve followed him, and I like him. It doesn’t mean I agree with all his ways, but what I like about him is that he’s the best politician I’ve ever met, Adeboye said.

He recalled an earlier conversation with a former United States ambassador to Nigeria shortly after Trump’s first election victory, explaining that he immediately admired the American leader because he was fulfilling his campaign promises.

Adeboye said one quality that distinguishes Trump from many politicians is his consistency between words and actions.

According to him, while politicians often make conflicting statements, Trump typically does exactly what he says he will do.

When he says he wants to do something, you had better get ready because many times he has already done it before announcing it, he said.

The RCCG leader added that Trump’s straightforward approach to leadership is one of the reasons he considers him an exceptional politician.

The cleric also spoke about concerns he raised last year after what he described as Trump’s warning that Nigeria could face military action over the country’s worsening security challenges.

Adeboye said he felt compelled to speak publicly because any military strike, no matter how precise, could result in innocent civilian casualties.

There’s something wonderful about bombing; the only problem is that no matter how accurate your bomb may be, some innocent people will suffer,” he said.

According to Adeboye, he advised the Federal Government to immediately engage Trump through diplomatic channels while intensifying efforts to tackle insecurity and eliminate those financing terrorism.

He said he recommended three urgent steps: seek a 100-day grace period from Trump, direct military chiefs to end the security crisis within 90 days or resign, and aggressively pursue individuals funding terrorist activities.

Go and meet Trump, beg him and tell him to give you 100 days’ grace. Then call the military chiefs and tell them within 90 days to stop this mess or resign. Thirdly, go after the sponsors of terrorism because they are known, he stated.

Adeboye disclosed that he later shared the same recommendations during a meeting with President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, encouraging the President to establish diplomatic contact with Trump.

He also defended Tinubu against criticism over the country’s security situation, arguing that the President had fulfilled his constitutional responsibility by issuing directives to the military.

I don’t support those accusing the President of not doing enough. When the Commander-in-Chief has given instructions to his subordinates, he has done his bit. You don’t expect him to put on khaki,” Adeboye said.

Drawing a comparison between Tinubu and Trump, the cleric noted that leaders are expected to provide direction while security agencies carry out operational responsibilities.

When my friend Trump gives instructions to bomb anywhere, he doesn’t leave the White House. He has done his bit; the rest is left to those carrying out the assignment.”

Adeboye’s remarks have since sparked conversations about leadership, governance, diplomacy and Nigeria’s ongoing fight against insecurity, particularly his praise for Trump’s leadership style and his call for stronger action against terrorism.
