Nigeria’s Youngest Chartered Accountant: 16-Year-Old Osasere Okundaye Breaks ICAN Record, Earns National Praise

Sixteen-year-old Osasere Okundaye has etched her name into Nigeria’s history books after becoming the country’s youngest chartered accountant, a remarkable achievement that has drawn nationwide admiration and earned her commene, praised the teenage prodigy on Monday, describing her accomplishment as a shining example of hard work, discipline, resilience and unwavering commitment to excellence.

In a statement celebrating her historic feat, the minister said Okundaye’s success demonstrates the extraordinary potential of young Nigerians when given the right support and opportunities.

I heartily congratulate Miss Osasere Okundaye on her outstanding achievement of becoming Nigeria’s youngest Chartered Accountant at just 16 years of age.

This remarkable milestone is a testament to the power of hard work, discipline, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, Olawande stated.

According to the minister, Okundaye’s achievement should inspire millions of Nigerian youths to pursue excellence regardless of age or background.

Okundaye secured the historic record after successfully qualifying as a chartered accountant through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), making her the youngest person ever to attain the prestigious professional qualification in Nigeria.

Her achievement surpasses the previous national record set in 2022 by Jonathan Adewale, who became Nigeria’s youngest chartered accountant at the age of 17 after completing the demanding ICAN professional examinations.

The ICAN qualification is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most rigorous professional certifications, typically earned by university graduates and experienced professionals after years of intensive study, training and examinations.
