PSC Releases Names of Successful Candidates for 50,000 Police Recruitment, Announces Next Step

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has released the names of successful applicants in the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), marking a major milestone in the Federal Government’s effort to strengthen national security.

The Commission announced the development on Wednesday, stating that the successful candidates emerged after a comprehensive recruitment process conducted in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant government agencies.

According to a statement signed by the Head of Protocol and Public Relations of the PSC, Mr. Torty Njoku Kalu, applicants who participated in the recently concluded written examination can check their recruitment status through the official recruitment portal.

The Commission disclosed that the portal, npfapplication.psc.gov.ng, will become accessible from 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, for candidates to verify whether they were successful.

In addition to the online publication, successful applicants will also receive notifications through the email addresses and phone numbers they provided during the application process.

The PSC said candidates whose names appear on the list will be required to report to their designated Police Training Institutions on dates and times that will be communicated later for documentation and mandatory medical screening.

The Commission warned that any successful applicant who fails to report within the stipulated period will automatically be considered to have declined the offer of appointment.

It also stressed that candidates who fail the medical examination to be conducted by the Police Medical Team upon resumption for training will be declared medically unfit and disqualified from the recruitment exercise.

Successful candidates have been directed to report with the following documents:

  • Training call-up slip
  • National Identification Number (NIN) slip
  • Bank Verification Number (BVN) slip
  • Original and photocopies of academic certificates
  • Other documents and items listed on the recruitment portal

The PSC advised applicants to carefully read all instructions on the portal before reporting to their assigned training centres.

Chairman of the Police Service Commission, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Hashimu Salihu Argungu, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the recruitment of 50,000 additional police constables.

He described the initiative as a significant intervention aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture and improving the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force.

Argungu urged the successful candidates to see their appointment as a call to national service and conduct themselves with discipline, professionalism, integrity, and patriotism throughout their careers.

According to him, increasing police manpower will enhance community policing, improve law enforcement across the country, and support ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity.

The recruitment exercise forms part of the Federal Government’s broader security reforms aimed at boosting the capacity of security agencies to combat terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activities across Nigeria.
