Pastor Adeboye on 83rd Birthday: Life’s End Can Surpass Its Beginning with Proper Planning

LAGOS: The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, emphasized the importance of having the power for a good ending, describing it as crucial for a brighter tomorrow.

He highlighted that life’s conclusion can surpass its beginning, urging his congregation to focus on building a glorious future.

Speaking at the Church’s monthly Thanksgiving Service, which coincided with his 83rd birthday on Sunday, Adeboye used biblical teachings and personal reflections to inspire the audience to take charge of their destinies. He encouraged them to plan and act today in order to shape a better tomorrow.

The Power of Today in Shaping Tomorrow

Quoting from the Bible, Pastor Adeboye referenced Isaiah 3:10: “Say to the righteous, it shall be well with him.

He explained that life is a journey in three phases: past, present, and future, with each phase interlinked. He pointed out that the decisions made today influence the future, urging his followers to reflect on the past and use that understanding to plan for a better tomorrow.

“The past is the mother of today, and today carries the DNA of the past,” Adeboye explained. “You are who you are today because of choices you made yesterday. If you are a doctor now, it’s because you chose to attend medical school in the past. What you decide today will shape your tomorrow.

The Importance of a Glorious Ending

Pastor Adeboye underscored the significance of a positive future, quoting the Bible again: “Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof.

He stressed that the ultimate measure of success lies in how one ends, not just how one begins, and reassured the congregation that God has the power to secure their future.

He stated, The Almighty God has the ability to guarantee your future. He can ensure that your tomorrow is great.

The Example of Abraham’s Generational Growth

To illustrate his point, Adeboye shared the biblical story of Abraham, highlighting the generational blessings that flowed from him. He noted that God blessed Abraham immensely, and his descendants continued to grow in greatness.

Abraham had one child whom God recognized, Isaac had two sons, and Jacob had 12 sons. These 12 multiplied and by the time they went to Egypt, they were 70, but when they left Egypt, they were 600,000.”

Adeboye used this example to emphasize the power of generational growth and divine blessings, urging his audience to invest in their families and children as the foundation for a greater future.

Training Children for a Better Tomorrow

The pastor focused on the importance of training children, stressing that they represent the future. He referred to a Yoruba proverb, “A child you don’t train will sell the house you are building.

Adeboye explained that God favored Abraham because He knew Abraham would teach his children in the ways of the Lord.

He cautioned parents not to be lax in raising their children, advising, “Don’t allow your children to do whatever they like.

If you do, you’re ruining your own future. Be firm, especially when it comes to your children serving the Lord.”

For the children, Adeboye had a strong message: You are not only to obey your parents, but you must also honor them.

It’s through honoring your parents that you will live long. If you think you know more than your parents, you may never live long.

The Role of Diligence, Humility, and Faith

Adeboye also emphasized the values of diligence, humility, and sowing. He advised the congregation to “sow in the present to reap in the future,” stressing that God rewards those who are diligent. He cautioned against pride, which he described as a “killer,” stating that God resists the proud and that one cannot have a prosperous future if God is working against them.

“Submit to God, and He will ensure no one tampers with your destiny,” Adeboye said, reiterating the importance of humility in securing a better tomorrow.

A Glorious Future in Christ

In his concluding remarks, Adeboye reminded the congregation that a glorious future is guaranteed only for those who are in Christ. You have a glorious future if Christ lives in you,” he affirmed, encouraging everyone to remain faithful and anchored in their faith as they move toward a brighter and more prosperous future.
