ABUJA: Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has assured Nigerians that the country will experience significant improvement in security across all regions in the coming weeks.
Shaibu gave the assurance on Tuesday while speaking with journalists after briefing President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.
The Army Chief said his assessment of ongoing security operations, particularly following his recent operational tour of the North-East, showed encouraging progress and stronger coordination among security agencies.
Asked what Nigerians should expect in the near future, Shaibu stated confidently: “They should look out for improved security across the country.”
He explained that his briefing to the President covered the outcome of his visit to the North-East theatre of operations and updates on the general security situation nationwide.
I came to brief him on the outcome of my visit to the North-East region and then look at other security situations across the country, which was satisfactory within this period,” he said.
According to the COAS, the current security situation has improved compared to previous months, reflecting enhanced collaboration between the Army and other security services, as well as sustained pressure on criminal elements across troubled zones.
Although he declined to reveal specific operational plans, Shaibu’s assurance comes amid intensified joint operations targeting insurgents, bandits, and other violent groups in several states.
The Army Chief’s comments follow recent coordinated air and ground offensives, during which the Nigerian Air Force reportedly neutralized dozens of terrorists in Borno, Katsina, and Kwara states.
The military’s renewed efforts form part of a broader strategy to consolidate gains against insurgency and criminality, ensuring peace and stability nationwide.
