LAGOS:President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dismissed reports and speculation about his health, declaring that he is healthy and ready to resume his official duties after returning to Nigeria from France.
The President spoke to journalists on Tuesday evening, September 29, 2026, shortly after arriving in Nigeria from France, where he had spent part of his vacation.
Addressing concerns raised by some Nigerians and his supporters over his health during the latter part of his trip, Tinubu rejected suggestions that he was ill or receiving medical treatment in France.
“Ready to kick, ready to walk. There’s nothing wrong,” the President said.
Tinubu added that rumours were bound to emerge in the political environment but maintained that his return to Nigeria was evidence of his current state.
Rumour will always be emanating from politics, but the facts remain I’m here. Healthy, sound, and ready to go, he said.
The remarks came amid online speculation concerning the President’s health while he was outside the country. The reports generated concern among some Nigerians and supporters, particularly as questions emerged about the reason for his extended stay in France.
However, Tinubu offered no indication that he had been hospitalised or undergone medical treatment, instead directly rejecting the health-related reports.
His return to Nigeria marks the end of the latest phase of his vacation and comes as attention remains focused on the activities of his administration and the political developments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
