ABUJA: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to personally attend campaign rallies in 12 states as the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares to begin its nationwide campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
According to a campaign timetable published by Politics Digest on October 16, 2026, the APC is expected to commence its campaign in Kaduna State on October 24, while party leaders and members of the Presidential Campaign Council will represent Tinubu at several rallies he is not scheduled to attend.
The timetable indicates that the President will be absent from rallies in more than 20 states, relying on senior party officials to canvass support for his re-election bid across the country.
Under the published schedule, Tinubu is expected to attend rallies in the following 12 states:
- Rivers State: November 7, 2026
- Plateau State: November 14, 2026
- Oyo State: November 21, 2026
- Borno State: November 25, 2026
- Enugu State: November 28, 2026
- Bauchi State: November 29, 2026
- Delta State: December 12, 2026
- Kano State: December 17, 2026
- Adamawa State: January 4, 2027
- Lagos State: January 9, 2027
The report also lists campaign appearances in other states, but its published schedule identifies only 10 state appearances in the dates reproduced in the article. The complete list of 12 states could not be established from the available details.
The timetable indicates that Tinubu will not personally attend several rallies scheduled for November, including those in Cross River, Gombe, Nasarawa and Ekiti between November 2 and 5.
He is also expected to miss campaign events in Ebonyi on November 9, Jigawa on November 10, Ondo on November 11 and Edo on November 12.
Other rallies he is not scheduled to attend include those in Yobe, Kebbi, Akwa Ibom, Anambra and Benue. APC leaders and campaign council members are expected to represent him at those events.
The campaign is scheduled to continue into December, with further rallies in Sokoto and other states, while the Federal Capital Territory is also expected to feature in the party’s campaign activities.
Tinubu had earlier indicated that he would not attend every APC campaign rally, explaining that he needed to balance electioneering with his responsibilities as President.
Speaking at the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, according to the report, Tinubu said the country still required his attention even as the ruling party prepared for the 2027 election.
He nevertheless pledged to make time to address Nigerians directly as APC leaders and campaign officials seek support across the states and local government areas.
The President’s planned absence from several rallies has attracted criticism from opposition figures.
The Allied Peoples Movement reportedly called on Tinubu to attend campaign rallies in every state or withdraw from the presidential race.
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar also questioned the President’s explanation that official responsibilities could prevent him from attending some campaign events.
In a statement issued by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication of the African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Atiku argued that the administration should account for its record before seeking another mandate.
He questioned why the President was citing governance responsibilities during the campaign, while Nigerians had faced rising living costs, pressure on purchasing power and difficulties accessing healthcare.
These remarks represent the opposition’s position on the administration’s performance and its approach to the election campaign.
The published timetable suggests that the APC intends to combine Tinubu’s personal appearances with rallies led by senior party officials and members of the Presidential Campaign Council.
The arrangement would allow the ruling party to conduct campaign activities in states where the President is not scheduled to appear personally.
However, the full timetable and the precise number of states Tinubu will visit should be checked against the party’s official schedule, as the published report refers to 12 states but does not identify 12 distinct appearances in the dates reproduced.
The 2027 presidential election campaign is expected to be a major test of the APC’s nationwide mobilisation strategy as parties seek to persuade voters ahead of the polls.
