A political figure identified as AA has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the rising cost of living and insecurity in Nigeria, promising to work towards making life more affordable and restoring safety if given the opportunity to lead the country.
In a message addressed to Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections, AA highlighted the economic difficulties confronting families, pensioners and young workers, arguing that the pressure of meeting basic needs had become a major concern for citizens across the country.
The statement described a situation in which parents worry about providing food for their children, pensioners struggle to balance the cost of medicine with daily necessities, and young people find it difficult to meet expenses despite working hard.
AA also raised concerns about kidnapping, attacks and the fear experienced by families uncertain about the safety of their loved ones.
“No family should have to face hunger and insecurity at the same time,” the statement said, warning against allowing hardship and fear to become the future inherited by the next generation.
In a direct criticism of the president, AA attributed the high cost of living to Tinubu’s administration and promised to pursue policies aimed at easing the financial burden on Nigerians.
“Bola made life expensive. I will work to make life affordable again and restore the security every Nigerian deserves,” the statement declared.
The message placed affordability and personal safety at the centre of AA’s appeal to voters, linking economic hardship with concerns about insecurity.
However, the statement did not outline specific economic policies, funding arrangements or security measures that would be introduced to achieve these promises.
AA also called on registered voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing the cards as essential instruments for citizens seeking to influence the country’s political future through the ballot.
“If you are a registered voter, please go and collect your PVC. Hold on to it. It is your voice, your choice and your peaceful power to demand change, the statement said.
The appeal encouraged eligible voters to participate in the electoral process and exercise their constitutional right to choose their leaders.
The statement further called for unity among Nigerians of different ages and backgrounds, arguing that the country’s future should be one in which families can live safely and meet their basic needs with dignity.
AA urged citizens to stand together across generations and support a future built around affordability, security and hope.
The message comes as political actors begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the economy, cost of living and national security likely to remain important issues in public debate.
While AA has presented affordable living and improved security as central priorities, the statement did not provide detailed proposals explaining how the objectives would be achieved.
