KAURA NAMODA: A resident of Zamfara State, identified as Lukman Muttaka, has raised alarm after armed bandits reportedly stormed his home in Kaura Namoda and abducted his two wives and five children, including an infant.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night, deepening concerns over the worsening security situation in several communities across the state.
According to reports, Muttaka made a desperate post on Facebook during the attack, pleading for immediate assistance. Writing in Hausa, he said, Barayi acikin gidana taimaka man dan Allah, which translates to Thieves are in my house, help me for God’s sake.
The post, shared while the attack was ongoing, has since drawn widespread sympathy and outrage on social media, as many Nigerians expressed concern over the inability of security agencies to respond in time.
The victim’s younger brother, Tijjani Lukman Baban Yusra, later confirmed the abduction in another Facebook post, stating that the gunmen successfully invaded the house and took away the entire family.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun. Bandits succeeded in entering my elder brother CSI Lukman Muttaka’s house where they took the entire family. We pray Allah keeps them safe, he wrote.
Residents said the attack has heightened fear in Kaura Namoda and surrounding communities, where cases of kidnapping and armed raids have remained a recurring threat despite repeated security operations in the state.
The abduction of seven members of one family in a single operation has again highlighted the scale of insecurity in parts of northwestern Nigeria, especially in Zamfara, where armed groups continue to target villages, homes and travellers for ransom.
Many locals have called on the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to tackle banditry and protect rural communities from further attacks.
The latest incident comes amid renewed concerns about the safety of residents in the state, as families continue to live under the constant fear of nighttime raids by criminal gangs.
