Cristiano Ronaldo, Erling Haaland and Viktor Gyökeres are among the standout names on the UEFA Nations League’s growing list of hat-trick heroes, with 18 players having now scored three or more goals in a single match in the competition.
Finland striker Joel Pohjanpalo became the latest player to join the exclusive list after scoring three goals in his country’s emphatic 7-0 victory over San Marino in September 2026.
The achievement further expanded a remarkable collection of individual scoring performances since the Nations League was introduced.
Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo holds a unique place in the competition’s history as the only player to score a hat-trick in the UEFA Nations League Finals.
Ronaldo achieved the feat during Portugal’s 2019 semi-final against Switzerland, scoring three times as the hosts secured their place in the final.
His performance remains unmatched in the finals stage of the competition.
Norway striker Erling Haaland is also part of the Nations League’s record books.
Haaland scored his first Nations League hat-trick against Romania on October 11, 2020, at the age of 20 years and 82 days.
According to UEFA, Haaland is one of the youngest players to score a hat-trick in the competition. Spain’s Ferran Torres also achieved the feat at a young age, scoring his treble against Germany at 20 years and 262 days.
Sweden forward Viktor Gyökeres is another recent addition to the Nations League’s prominent list of hat-trick scorers.
Gyökeres scored three goals against Azerbaijan on November 19, 2024, although UEFA records the performance as four goals.
He has also been enjoying an impressive scoring run in the competition, having found the net in four consecutive Nations League matches from October 14, 2024, with that streak continuing at the time of the report
Serbia forward Aleksandar Mitrović and Slovenia striker Benjamin Šeško share the Nations League record for scoring in five consecutive matches.
Mitrović achieved his five-match scoring streak between June 5, 2022, and October 12, 2024, while Šeško matched the feat between June 12, 2022, and September 9, 2024.
Both forwards also scored hat-tricks during their respective runs.
Mitrović scored three times against Sweden on September 24, 2022, while Šeško registered his treble against Kazakhstan on September 9, 2024.

UEFA notes that Movsisyan and Gyökeres are recorded as having scored four goals in their respective matches, despite being listed among the competition’s hat-trick performances.
Beyond individual hat-tricks, the Nations League has also produced several impressive scoring streaks.
Mitrović and Šeško currently share the longest recorded scoring run, with each finding the net in five consecutive matches.
Four-match scoring streaks have also been recorded by Romania’s Răzvan Marin, Georgia’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Georgia’s Georges Mikautadze and Sweden’s Gyökeres.
Mikautadze’s run stretched from November 16, 2024, to September 25, 2026, while Gyökeres’ four-match streak began on October 14, 2024, and was still ongoing at the time of the report.
With Pohjanpalo now added to the list, the Nations League continues to produce memorable individual scoring performances and new milestones for Europe’s leading forwards.
