Osimhen’s Brilliant Brace Fires Galatasaray to Champions League Victory

Nigerian Super Eagles and Galatasaray of Turkey striker, Victor Osimhen, continued his impressive scoring streak with a sensational brace that powered his team to a 3–1 victory over Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.

The red-hot forward, who recently netted a hat-trick to help Nigeria secure a spot in the World Cup playoffs, put on another world-class display as he dominated the game with pace, precision, and power.

The former African Footballer of the Year opened scoring as early as the third minute, latching onto a brilliant pass from Mario Lemina before calmly slotting home.

He doubled Galatasaray’s lead in the 33rd minute, pouncing on a defensive error by Fredrik Bjorkan to round goalkeeper Niklas Haikin and fire into an empty net.

Osimhen’s goals not only sealed victory for Galatasaray but also made history he became the first player in the club’s history to score in seven consecutive European matches, surpassing Burak Yilmaz’s record of six goals set between October 2012 and March 2013.

Despite Galatasaray’s dominance, Bodo/Glimt pulled one back through substitute Andreas Helmersen, who scored a late consolation.

However, it was too little, too late, as Yunus Akgün added a third goal for the Turkish champions to seal the win.

Wednesday’s triumph comes just after Galatasaray’s stunning victory over English champions Liverpool before the international break a result that boosted their European campaign and confidence heading into this fixture.

Osimhen, who has now scored five goals in this season’s Champions League, narrowly missed out on another hat-trick after failing to convert several chances, but his relentless pressure and link-up play earned him the Man of the Match award.

The former Napoli star, who was Serie A’s top scorer before joining Galatasaray, continues to justify his reputation as one of Europe’s deadliest forwards. His explosive form has helped Galatasaray secure back-to-back victories and strengthen their position in the group standings.

Bodo/Glimt, meanwhile, remain winless in the competition, with only two points from their opening three games.
