A Nigerian couple, Abinye Douglas Pepplechi and his wife, Tochi, have welcomed their first child, a baby boy, after 15 years of waiting, praying and hoping to become parents.
The couple announced the joyful development on social media, describing the arrival of their son as an answered prayer and a testimony of God’s faithfulness.
Sharing her testimony on Facebook on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Tochi expressed overwhelming gratitude, declaring that God could always be trusted, even during difficult seasons of waiting.
According to her, the couple endured 15 years of prayers, patience and hope before finally welcoming their precious son.
In an emotional message accompanying the announcement, she wrote:
GOD CAN BE TRUSTED! God has blessed us with the precious gift of a son! After 15 years of waiting, praying, and holding on to hope. Our hearts overflow with gratitude as we hold this beautiful answer to prayer in our arms.
Reflecting on their long journey to parenthood, Tochi described the arrival of their child as a moment of thanksgiving and a reminder of their faith.
Fifteen years of waiting, and now a lifetime of thanksgiving. What a faithful God we serve! she added, quoting the biblical passage in 1 Samuel 1:27:
“For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him.”
Beyond celebrating their personal blessing, Tochi used the occasion to encourage couples and individuals who may be experiencing prolonged periods of waiting for children.
She urged them not to lose hope, reminding them that their struggles, tears and prayers matter.
“To anyone still waiting and trusting God: may our testimony encourage your heart. He sees your tears, hears your prayers, and walks with you through every season. May He renew your strength and fill you with hope,” she wrote.
She also invited friends, family members and well-wishers to join the couple in thanking God for the arrival of their son.
