NCDMB Trains 50 Delta Youths in Digital Oilfield Operations, Data Analytics

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has concluded a five-day intensive training programme in Digital Oilfield Operations and Data Analytics for 50 youths drawn from different parts of Delta State.

The programme, designed to equip young people with relevant digital and technical skills for opportunities in the evolving oil and gas industry, was held in Asaba from Monday, October 26, to Friday, October 30, 2026.

The training was executed by XYZ Logistics Limited on behalf of the NCDMB as part of efforts to strengthen local capacity, promote Nigerian Content and prepare young Nigerians for emerging opportunities in the energy sector.

Participants received practical instruction in several areas, including digital oilfield technologies, data analytics, real-time field monitoring, predictive maintenance and data-driven decision-making aimed at improving operational efficiency in oil and gas operations.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the management of XYZ Logistics Limited, representing the NCDMB, commended the participants for their commitment, discipline and enthusiasm throughout the five-day programme.

The management explained that the initiative aligned with the board’s mandate to develop local technical expertise, strengthen human capital and increase the participation of Nigerians in the oil and gas industry.

According to the facilitators, the beneficiaries participated in practical and hands-on sessions covering digital oilfield operations, the application of data analytics in oil and gas activities, smart field management and innovative technologies transforming modern energy operations.

The programme was designed to expose the participants to industry-relevant knowledge and equip them with technical competencies that could improve their employment prospects and prepare them for changing demands in the energy sector.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the NCDMB for sponsoring the initiative and to XYZ Logistics Limited for delivering the training.

They described the programme as timely, insightful and beneficial to their career development, particularly given the increasing importance of digital technologies and data analytics in the oil and gas industry.

The participants also pledged to apply the knowledge and practical skills acquired during the training to productive activities and future career opportunities within the energy sector.

The five-day programme ended with the presentation of certificates of participation and starter packs to all 50 beneficiaries.

The NCDMB has continued to emphasise the importance of technical training, youth empowerment and sustainable capacity development as key components of its efforts to deepen Nigerian participation in the oil and gas industry.

The initiative also highlights the growing relevance of digital competencies in the energy sector, where technologies such as real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance and advanced data analytics are increasingly being deployed to improve productivity, operational efficiency and safety.

Through programmes of this nature, the board seeks to expand access to specialised technical knowledge and strengthen the pool of skilled Nigerian professionals capable of supporting the country’s evolving oil and gas industry.

The latest training intervention extends these capacity-building efforts to Delta State and the wider Niger Delta region.
