SWEDEN: The Mountain Top Chorale, a choir affiliated with the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries | Deliverance, Spiritual Warfare and Prayers have emerged as the overall champion of the 2026 World Choir Games held in Helsingborg, Sweden.
The Nigerian choir secured a gold medal in the Spiritual Category after scoring an impressive 87.38 points, before going on to win the Champions Competition and claim the overall championship at the prestigious international choral event.
The achievement has placed Nigeria in the global spotlight and further strengthened the country’s presence in international choral and gospel music.
The choir, conducted by Oluwasegun Okedunmola, recorded two major successes at the competition.
It first emerged as the gold medal winner in Category C14 – Spiritual, scoring 87.38 points. The group subsequently competed in the Champions Competition, where it was crowned the overall champion of the 2026 World Choir Games.
The development was celebrated by MFM General Overseer, Dr Daniel Olukoya, who congratulated the choristers, conductor and leadership of the choir.
In a statement shared on social media, Olukoya described the achievement as a major moment for the church and Nigeria. GOLD MEDAL WINNER in the Spiritual Category, with an impressive 87.38 points,” Olukoya said.
He added that the choir had also become the CHAMPION OF THE WORLD CHOIR GAMES”in the Champions Competition.
Olukoya said the victory went beyond music, describing it as a demonstration of discipline, excellence, dedication and teamwork.
He also praised the choir for using its musical talent to glorify God on an international platform.
This is more than a musical achievement; it is a testament to discipline, excellence, dedication, teamwork and the power of using our gifts to glorify God, he said.
The MFM leader congratulated the choristers, Okedunmola and the choir’s leadership, while also acknowledging everyone whose sacrifice and commitment contributed to the historic performance.

The World Choir Games 2026 is being held in Helsingborg, Sweden, from August 6 to 16.
The international event, organized by Interkultur, has attracted more than 160 choirs and approximately 8,500 singers from over 40 countries.
The 2026 edition is particularly significant because Sweden is hosting the World Choir Games for the first time.
According to the organisers, the event brings together choirs from across the world to compete in different categories, perform concerts and celebrate the unifying power of choral music.
