A married woman who was expelled from an NYSC orientation camp after being accused of having an affair with a fellow corps member has shared a dramatic account of what she says really happened.
The woman, who spoke about the incident in a video, claimed she was wrongly accused of adultery in 2022 and sent out of the camp after rejecting the romantic advances of another corps member.
According to her, the man allegedly became obsessed with her after she turned down his advances and later plotted against her by creating what appeared to be compromising photos and videos.
She claimed the materials were presented as evidence that she had been involved in an affair with him.
However, the woman insisted that the images and videos were fabricated using artificial intelligence.
She said the situation became even more painful because she was married at the time and faced the possibility of being disgraced over allegations she maintained were completely false.
According to her account, her husband stood by her after she explained what had happened and believed her version of events.
Rather than allowing the matter to end with her expulsion, the husband reportedly took the case to the office of the NYSC Director-General, where the allegations were reviewed and the case reopened.
The woman said a forensic investigation was subsequently carried out on the photographs and videos.
She claimed the investigation established that the materials were fake and had been manipulated, vindicating her after she had already suffered the consequences of the allegations.
Following the development, she said the NYSC apologised and allowed her to return to the orientation camp and complete her national service.
However, she claimed that the corps member she accused of setting her up was only given a one-month extension of service.
The experience, according to the woman, left her deeply affected because of the embarrassment and damage the allegations could have caused to her marriage and reputation.
She also used the incident to highlight the dangers of manipulated digital content, particularly as artificial intelligence makes it increasingly easy to create convincing photographs and videos of people appearing to be involved in situations that never happened.
The woman has maintained that she was innocent of the adultery allegation and that the subsequent forensic examination of the materials supported her claim.
