UMUAHIA: Tragedy struck in Asa Umudim, located in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State, after a man allegedly set his home ablaze, leading to the death of one of his daughters.
His wife and two other children are currently in critical condition and receiving treatment in the hospital.
The heartbreaking incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, May 17, 2025. According to reports, the man was driven by suspicions that his wife was involved in an extramarital affair, an allegation he based on her phone ringing frequently, allegedly from male callers he believed were her lovers.
Local sources claim that in a fit of rage, the man poured a flammable substance on his wife and children before setting the house on fire.
Although the Abia State Police Command has not released a full official statement, the event has sparked widespread grief and anger within the community.
