JUST IN: Tinubu Wins APC Presidential Primary With 10.9 Million Votes

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general election after recording a landslide victory in the party’s nationwide primary election.

The APC presidential primary, conducted across the country’s 8,809 wards, saw Tinubu defeat his only challenger, Stanley Osifo, by a massive margin, further consolidating his control of the ruling party ahead of the next election cycle.

Results announced during the national collation exercise at the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja showed that Tinubu polled a total of 10,999,967 votes, while Osifo secured 16,504 votes nationwide.

The exercise was coordinated by the APC Presidential Primary Election Committee chaired by former Senate President Pius Anyim, with governors and senior party leaders serving as state coordinators and returning officers for the direct primary election.

Tinubu recorded overwhelming victories across all six geopolitical zones, dominating both traditional APC strongholds and states considered politically competitive.

In the South-West, the President swept through the region with impressive figures. Lagos State delivered 814,988 votes, Ogun returned 322,485 votes, Ondo produced 181,996 votes, while Oyo, Osun and Ekiti delivered 142,754, 100,888 and 85,340 votes respectively.

Osifo recorded only marginal votes in the zone, polling 1,186 votes in Lagos and 929 in Oyo, while failing to secure votes in several states.

The North-West also produced strong numbers for Tinubu. Kaduna delivered 618,914 votes, Kano returned 500,852 votes, Katsina gave him 467,003 votes, while Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara also recorded massive support for the President.

In the North-Central region, Tinubu maintained dominance with 374,787 votes in Benue, 310,990 in Kwara, 285,436 in Nasarawa, 241,720 in Plateau, 197,370 in Kogi and 175,487 votes in Niger State. The Federal Capital Territory equally voted massively for the President, giving him 36,103 votes, while Osifo reportedly failed to secure a single vote in Abuja.

The South-East and South-South zones also delivered significant victories for Tinubu during the APC primary election.

Imo State produced 582,960 votes, Enugu delivered 383,382 votes, while Ebonyi, Abia and Anambra recorded strong support for the President.

In the South-South, Delta State returned 407,646 votes, Akwa Ibom delivered 389,197 votes, Rivers produced 280,082 votes, while Bayelsa recorded 227,192 votes for Tinubu.

Political observers say the outcome reflects Tinubu’s continued dominance within the APC structure nationwide and signals early momentum for his expected re-election campaign in 2027.

The APC presidential primary comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general election, with opposition parties also preparing for their own primaries and coalition talks.

Tinubu, who was elected President in 2023, is expected to officially receive the APC presidential flag in the coming weeks following the conclusion of the party’s internal processes.
