Landon Emenalo, the son of former Super Eagles defender and ex-Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo, has joined Scottish giants Celtic on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
The 18-year-old defender and midfielder is expected to gain valuable senior-level experience during his time in Scotland as he continues his development away from Chelsea’s academy setup.
Emenalo is capable of playing in both defence and midfield, giving Celtic another versatile young option as the club prepares for the new campaign.

The teenager recently caught the attention of Chelsea’s first-team coaching staff after being included in the club’s senior squad for their pre-season tour of Asia and Australia.
He also featured for Chelsea during their pre-season victory over A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers, gaining an opportunity to train and play alongside senior professionals.
Chelsea believe the loan move will be an important step in Emenalo’s development. The Premier League club said the youngster would benefit from experiencing regular top-flight football in Scotland.
Landon will gain valuable top-flight experience in Scotland, Chelsea said in a statement on Thursday, while wishing the academy graduate well during his spell at Celtic.
Emenalo joined Chelsea’s academy at the age of seven and has spent more than a decade progressing through the club’s youth system.
He enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign, becoming a regular starter for Chelsea Under-21s and helping the team finish top of the Premier League 2 table.
The youngster was also part of Chelsea Under-18s’ successful campaign, contributing to their national championship triumph after they defeated Manchester City in the play-off final at Stamford Bridge.
His move to Celtic now represents the next stage of his development, with regular senior football expected to provide a tougher test and greater exposure.
Chelsea will continue to monitor Emenalo’s progress throughout his loan spell in Scotland.
For Celtic, the arrival of the highly rated teenager adds another promising young player to the squad, while Emenalo will have the opportunity to demonstrate his ability at senior level and build on his impressive progress at Chelsea.
The move will also attract attention in Nigeria because of his family connection to the Super Eagles. His father, Michael Emenalo, enjoyed a professional playing career that included representing Nigeria before moving into football administration and coaching roles.
