Governor Peter Mbah Rewards Enugu Rangers with N150 Million, Land for Winning 2025/2026 NPFL Title

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has rewarded players and officials of Rangers International Football Club with N150 million and plots of land following the club’s victory in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The rewards were announced during a dinner hosted in honour of the league champions at the Government House in Enugu on Tuesday night.

Speaking at the event, Governor Mbah expressed gratitude to the players and management on behalf of the people of Enugu State for bringing glory to the state.

He announced a cash reward of N100 million for the players and N50 million for the technical and management crew.

“We are providing a cash gift of N100 million for the players and N50 million for the technical and management crew. We have also approved a plot of land in Enugu for every player, while additional plots will be allocated to the General Manager, Head Coach, Secretary and Assistant Coach,” Mbah said.

The governor described Rangers International as a symbol of resilience, hope, unity and social renewal, noting that the club was established after the Nigerian Civil War and has become one of the country’s most successful football institutions.

He paid tribute to football legends associated with the Flying Antelopes, including the late Christian Chukwu, Emmanuel Okala and Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha.

Governor Mbah commended the players, coaches and management for their discipline, sacrifice and hard work throughout the season, describing the NPFL trophy as the product of determination and collective effort.

He also praised Rangers General Manager, Amobi Ezeaku, for his leadership and commitment to the club’s success.

Mbah assured the team of continued government support and pledged to complete the ongoing renovation of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu to meet international standards.

According to him, the upgraded stadium will enable the club to host continental matches and strengthen Enugu’s status as a sporting destination.

He urged the players not to become complacent despite their success.

“Fight on, keep winning and ensure you bring the continental trophy home,” he charged.

The Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Lloyd Ekweremadu, praised Governor Mbah for his commitment to sports development and youth empowerment.

He described Rangers’ league triumph as proof of the governor’s dedication to excellence and effective service delivery across sectors.

Rangers International General Manager, Amobi Ezeaku, said the celebration represented more than just winning a trophy, describing it as a reflection of visionary leadership and unity among the government, management, players and supporters.

According to him, the club has experienced one of its most successful periods under Governor Mbah’s administration due to increased investment in sports and youth development.

Ezeaku expressed optimism that Rangers can one day conquer Africa and bring the CAF Champions League trophy to Nigeria.

“Every great achievement begins as a dream. Today, we dream of Rangers defeating Africa’s biggest clubs and bringing the CAF Champions League trophy to Enugu,” he said.

Following their triumph in the 2025/2026 NPFL season, Rangers International are now expected to represent Nigeria in continental competitions, with hopes of restoring the club’s dominance on the African stage.

The latest rewards from the Enugu State Government are expected to boost morale and inspire the team to pursue further success in both domestic and international competitions.
