A man identified as Iseleto allegedly stabbed his 23-year-old son, Miracle, to death in Osubi community, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, in a shocking family tragedy.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, February 8, reportedly stemmed from the son renting a separate apartment for himself and his father’s wife in an effort to reduce household tension.
Sources says that the father lured Miracle into a nearby bush and stabbed him multiple times with a dagger. After the attack, the suspect fled the scene.
The injured young man reportedly tried to make his way to a nearby road, where passersby rushed him to a local hospital.
He later died after recounting how his father deceived him into the bush and fatally attacked him.
Disturbingly, the suspect allegedly admitted the crime in a phone call to his stepdaughter and reportedly threatened to harm his wife and stepdaughter for leaving the marital home.
A resident of the community described the suspect as a drunkard and chronic debtor who regularly abused his wife.
He often beats his wife after drinking and even attempts sexual advances on her in front of their children, the resident said.
He also tried to assault his stepdaughter, and when she resisted, he drove her out of the house.
The Delta State Police Command, through spokesperson SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect is currently at large.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the murder as the community reels from the shocking event.
