Nigerian actress and filmmaker Angela Eguavoen has revealed that she believes all men cheat, explaining that the belief helps her emotionally prepare for the possibility of discovering infidelity in a relationship.
Eguavoen made the statement during an interview with PUNCH, where she discussed relationships and her views on unfaithfulness.
According to the actress, whenever she says that all men cheat, men usually challenge the claim by insisting that some men remain faithful. I strongly believe that all men cheat, she said. Whenever I say that, the men will say, ‘It is not all men.
Eguavoen explained that her position is less about claiming that she has evidence that every man is unfaithful and more about using the belief as a form of emotional protection.
She said she would rather prepare herself mentally for the possibility of discovering that a man she is dating has been unfaithful than be completely shocked if such a situation occurs. I think it is a belief I use to console myself just in case I am in a relationship and suddenly find out that the person I am dating is cheating.”
Despite her position on infidelity, Eguavoen said she would not respond violently if she discovered that her partner had cheated.
The actress stressed that she would not hurt a partner or do anything she could later regret.
However, she said that if a man chooses to be unfaithful, he should at least show consideration and respect toward his partner.
I would not kill or hurt him, and I would not do anything I would regret,” she said.
Eguavoen added that discretion matters in a relationship, saying a man who cheats should not deliberately make his infidelity obvious to his wife or girlfriend. I believe all men cheat, but if you are going to cheat, do not rub it in your woman’s face. Just show her respect. That is one of the biggest forms of respect a man can offer his wife or girlfriend.”
Eguavoen’s comments have sparked discussion about trust, fidelity and expectations in romantic relationships. While she presented her statement as her personal belief and a way of emotionally preparing herself, her remarks do not establish that all men are unfaithful.
