Airpeace’s Boss Onyema To Face US Charges For Justice Obstruction

The management of Air Peace has refuted any misconduct on the part of Dr. Allen Onyema, the company’s chairman and chief executive officer, and Mrs. Ejiro Eghagha, the chief of finance and administration, who have been charged by the US of obstructing justice.

statement in a fresh charges said Onyema is accused of obstruction of justice for providing false paper to the government in order to halt an investigation against him that led to previous accusations of bank fraud and money laundering.

In an attempt to halt the investigation into the alleged $20 million bank fraud and unfreeze his bank accounts, he was charged in 2019 with submitting fake documents to US authorities.

U.S. Attorney Ryan K. said, Onyema and his co-defendant allegedly committed additional crimes of fraud in a failed attempt to derail the government’s investigation of his conduct after allegedly using his airline company as a cover to commit fraud on the United States’ banking system.

Also, it was claimed that between 2016 and 2017, Onyema and Eghagha had illegally applied for export letters of credit to move money from a Nigerian bank account to the bank account of Onyema’s company, Springfield Aviation LLC, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Purchase agreements bills of sale, and appraisals were among the attached document for the letters of credit, which were supposed to be used to pay for Air Peace’s acquisition of five different Boeing 737 passenger aircraft.

But the attached documents was alleged to be fake; Onyema owned Springfield Aviation Company LLC, which was run by an independent entity on his behalf.

Based on the records, Springfield Aviation Company LLC, a Georgia-registered company, was selling the aircraft to Air Peace..

Air Peace said in a statement on Sunday that its CEO Onyema and Chief of Finance and Administration Eghagha are innocent of all charges, in response to the most recent claim of “justice obstruction” against them.
