LAGOS: The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has challenged Nigerian scholars and researchers to deploy their intellectual capacity toward finding practical and sustainable solutions to the country’s growing insecurity.
Speaking during an engagement with academics and key stakeholders, the revered cleric said Nigeria’s security challenges require more than routine discussions, urging experts in higher institutions to develop research-backed ideas capable of addressing the root causes of violence and criminality.
Adeboye stressed that universities and research institutions possess the expertise needed to generate innovative strategies that can strengthen intelligence gathering, conflict prevention and national peacebuilding efforts.
According to him, meaningful progress can only be achieved through collaboration among academic institutions, government agencies, security organisations and the private sector.
He urged researchers to move beyond theoretical studies by producing evidence-based findings that can influence public policy and improve safety across communities.
The RCCG leader also appealed to governments at all levels to create an enabling environment where academic research can be translated into practical policies and programmes that tackle insecurity and promote national stability.
Highlighting the role of technology and innovation, Adeboye said modern research should be leveraged to enhance security operations and provide long-term solutions to terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes affecting the country.
He expressed optimism that Nigeria could overcome its security challenges if policymakers and the academic community worked together to develop home-grown solutions tailored to the nation’s realities.
Adeboye further encouraged scholars to view their research as a powerful instrument for national transformation rather than merely an academic exercise, noting that their contributions could shape policies that guarantee peace, security and sustainable development.
He maintained that the country’s future depends largely on how effectively its intellectual community responds to pressing national issues, urging researchers to use their knowledge to drive positive change and help build a safer Nigeria.
