The rescue came days after the retired senior officer reportedly died while in captivity, with troops sustaining pressure on criminal groups operating in the area.
According to a statement issued on Monday by Operation Fasan Yamma spokesman, Samaila Uba, soldiers made contact with the bandits during sustained offensive operations around Tunga Village, leading to the successful recovery of Mrs. Abubakar.
