LAGOS: Famed Afrobeat musician Femi Kuti and award-winning singer 9ice will headline a stellar lineup as Lagos gears up for the highly anticipated 20th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) on November 2, 2024.
This landmark event promises to be a vibrant celebration of African cinema, showcasing the rich tapestry of talent across the continent.
A key highlight of the festivities will be the African Legends Night on November 1 at Amore Garden in Lekki. This special evening will honor the incredible contributions of African creatives, with performances from top artists including Ghana’s Adina Thembi and Nigeria’s own Yinka Davies.
Adding to the night’s allure, renowned Ghanaian guitarist Naird will bring his unique sound, enhancing the musical experience.
In addition to the captivating performances, the event will welcome legendary actors from across Africa, including Ghana’s Lydia Forson, Nigeria’s Chinedu Ikeduze, and Burkina Faso’s Charles Koutou. Their presence underscores the significance of this celebration of African artistry.
According to AMAA’s technical director, Mr. Kingsley James, this year’s ceremony is set to be one of the most memorable in the history of the awards. We have an exceptional African lineup that will truly impress all attendees, he remarked.
With Nigeria’s Segun Arinze and Ghana’s Joselyn Dumas as hosts, along with musical icons like Femi Kuti and 9ice, the evening promises to be nothing short of unforgettable.
Mr. Raymond Anyiam-Osigwe, an AFA board member, emphasized the emotional significance of the 20th AMAA, which serves as a tribute to its late founder, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe.
