LAGOS: Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, has urged President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly to give Nigerians a detailed account of how retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas managed the resources of Rivers State during his six-month tenure as sole administrator.
Speaking on Television’s on Thursday, Adegboruwa stressed that Rivers, being one of the wealthiest states in the country, deserved transparency in how its finances were handled under emergency rule.
“Rivers is one of the richest states in Nigeria. Somebody acted for six months as a single individual. What is his report? What did he do with the resources? What did he leave behind?” the lawyer asked.
He added that Section 305 of the Constitution requires those who exercised oversight functions during the emergency period the President, Federal Executive Council, and National Assembly to render a report to the people.
“Nigerians are entitled to know from the President, who exercised oversight responsibility, and from the National Assembly, how much was received within this period, and what it was used for,” he stated.
President Tinubu had sworn in Ibas as Rivers State’s sole administrator in March 2025, following the declaration of emergency rule.
