ABUJA: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday received Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, in a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Governor Adeleke arrived at the Aso Rock Villa at about 5:25pm, accompanied by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. The Osun governor was dressed in navy blue traditional attire and arrived in a black Toyota Land Cruiser SUV.

The meeting marked Adeleke’s first official engagement with President Tinubu since his re-election in the Osun State governorship poll held last Saturday.

Adeleke’s visit came days after the President personally called to congratulate him on his electoral victory. Tinubu described the outcome of the election as a positive affirmation of Nigeria’s democracy and urged the governor to promote unity among the people of Osun State, irrespective of their political affiliations.

Other members of the Osun State delegation were also seen arriving at the Presidential Villa at about 5:40pm.

They included the Director-General of the Adeleke Campaign Council, Senator Lere Oyewumi; a member of the council, Sunday Bisi; the Chief of Staff to the Osun State Governor, Akinleye Kazeem; and the member representing Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Bamidele Salam.

Details of the discussions between President Tinubu and Governor Adeleke were not immediately made public as the meeting was held behind closed doors.

The visit has, however, attracted attention following Adeleke’s victory in the recently concluded governorship election and President Tinubu’s earlier congratulatory message to the governor.

The meeting also comes amid renewed political interest in Osun State following the governorship poll, with stakeholders closely watching developments after Adeleke secured another term in office.
