ZAMFARA: Tragedy struck once again on the Dansadau-Gusau road on Friday, as an explosion killed multiple travellers, marking the third such incident in less than a week. The blast occurred between Dansadau and Malele, causing significant damage and further heightening fears among local residents and commuters, who now view the road as a deadly trap.
A truck, transporting around 100 bags of grains and passengers to Dansadau market in Zamfara state, was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted along the route. A local resident, speaking anonymously for security reasons, Reports states that the devastating explosion resulted in several fatalities. The exact number of casualties has yet to be confirmed, with authorities awaiting a report from the Malele community for a clearer account of the losses.
“The explosion occurred around 8:30 am, just a few kilometres from Dansadau, the source explained. “We are still waiting for the Malele community to provide the actual figures.

In a stroke of luck, soldiers who rushed to the scene discovered a second IED planted nearby. The military quickly defused the explosive, preventing another disaster. The resident noted, The soldiers used their machines to check and took the second bomb into the bush to safely detonate it.
The recent spate of attacks has fueled fear in the region, with locals and commuters now regarding the Dansadau-Gusau road as a hazardous route. Just two days ago, a similar blast claimed the lives of six people, prompting urgent calls for government intervention to address the growing security threat.
Authorities have pointed fingers at the newly formed terror group, Lakurawa, as the masterminds behind the recent explosions. The group is suspected of being responsible for a series of IED attacks along the route, leaving the local population on edge.
