SEOUL: Samsung Electronics has unveiled its first multi-folding smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, signaling a major step in the company’s foldable device innovations. The device, which features three inward-folding panels and a 10-inch main display, will debut in South Korea on December 12, with additional markets including China, Taiwan, Singapore, and the UAE to follow. A U.S. launch is planned for early 2026.
The TriFold is designed to run three apps simultaneously side by side and supports a desktop-like mode, eliminating the need for an external display. Samsung equipped the device with its largest battery capacity among foldables and super-fast charging capable of 50% power in 30 minutes.
TM Roh, Samsung Electronics co-CEO, emphasized that the device reflects years of work on foldable designs, aiming to balance portability, performance, and productivity.
Liz Lee of Counterpoint Research noted that the TriFold is intended to test durability, hinge design, and software performance before wider commercialization.
As competition in the foldable market intensifies, particularly from Chinese rivals and the anticipated entry of Apple, the Galaxy Z TriFold positions Samsung at the forefront of multi-folding technology.
