Actress Doris Ogala has reignited the controversy surrounding Regina Daniels’ age at the time she married billionaire politician Ned Nwoko, insisting that the actress was 17 years old when the wedding took place.
In a recent post, Doris, who is a close friend of Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, maintained that she personally saw Regina’s birth certificate and could confirm her real age.
According to her, the actress is currently 24, which means she was 17 when she tied the knot with Nwoko in May 2019.
Regina got married at 17. I’ve seen her birth certificate, Doris stated, adding that only a mother truly knows her daughter’s age.
Her statement has reignited online arguments over Regina’s actual age. While Rita Daniels once claimed in a 2020 BBC interview that her daughter was about to turn 20 at the time, Regina’s father, Jude Ojeogwu, had opposed the marriage in 2019, arguing that his daughter was still 17.
Now, following reports of cracks in the marriage, Regina herself has reportedly admitted she was 17 when she married Ned.
Actress Mercy Johnson has also backed this claim, saying Regina was indeed underage at the time.
The renewed revelation has sparked fresh conversations on social media about child marriage and the entertainment industry’s silence over the issue.
