The Pastor-in-Charge of Youth Province One at The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Joseph Palace, FESTAC, Lagos, Leke Adeboye, has revealed that the church spent over N63 million on fueling free buses for transportation between Lagos and Ogun States in just seven weeks.
The initiative, led by RCCG, involved 10 buses operating key routes across Lagos, including 7up, Victoria Island, FESTAC, CMS, Ikorodu, and Mowe in Ogun State.

In an interview on Saturday, Adeboye explained that aside from fueling costs, the church also covered the welfare of the drivers and volunteers. The church also used the waiting time to share messages from Open Heavens, its daily devotional, which added another N10 million to the costs.
Each bus carried 80 passengers per trip, making two trips daily, five days a week. Over the seven-week period, the buses transported an estimated 56,000 people, helping to significantly reduce commuting expenses for Nigerians from various backgrounds—ranging from students to law enforcement officers, military personnel, and even non-Christians.
Adeboye emphasized that the initiative was open to all Nigerians, regardless of their faith or social status, noting that it was designed to ease the financial burden on the country’s citizens. He revealed that each passenger saved an average of N40,000 per week thanks to the free rides.

“The buses were accessible to everyone—Christians, Muslims, traditionalists, atheists, and even those who have criticized the church. Students, military personnel, and law enforcement officers also benefitted from this service, as well as less privileged groups like area boys and agberos,” Adeboye said.
The initiative, which began in September, was also designed to provide both transportation relief and spiritual support. According to a statement issued by the province, buses traveled from Mowe, Ibafo, Berger, and 7UP Car Park C (near Redemption City) to CMS, as well as from Festac, RCCG Joseph’s Palace, and Apple Junction to Victoria Island and Lekki.
