Nigeria’s Super Eagles suffered a 2-1 loss to Portugal in an international friendly on Wednesday, as the European side wrapped up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with back-to-back victories.
Pedro Neto put Portugal ahead before Akor Adams drew Nigeria level with an equaliser for the Super Eagles.
However, substitute Francisco Conceição restored Portugal’s lead with a curling effort into the far corner, sealing victory for the hosts.
The win ensured Portugal headed into the World Cup in strong form, while Nigeria was left to reflect on a narrow defeat despite Adams’ impressive response.
Portugal had entered the encounter looking to maintain momentum ahead of the tournament and succeeded with another positive result.
For Nigeria, the match provided a final test against top opposition, but the Super Eagles were unable to avoid defeat after Conceição’s second-half strike proved decisive.
