Ogun Police Arrest Two Suspects Linked to Edo Kidnapping and Murder Case, Recover Police Uniform

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping gang linked to the abduction and murder of two hostages in Okada, Edo State, recovering a police camouflage uniform and three mobile phones during the operation.

The suspects, identified as Gafaru Adamu, 25, and Muhammed Sanni, 20, were apprehended by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode following intelligence-driven investigations.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, preliminary findings showed that the duo is wanted in connection with an ongoing kidnapping and murder investigation in Okada, Edo State.

Babaseyi disclosed that extensive profiling and intelligence gathering led to the identification and arrest of the suspects.

He said the command also discovered that the suspects are believed to be members of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate allegedly responsible for the crime under investigation.

During the operation, detectives recovered one pair of police camouflage uniform and three mobile phones from the suspects.

According to the statement, the recovered items have been documented and taken into custody to aid further investigations.

Following extensive profiling and investigation, the suspects were identified as Gafaru Adamu, aged 25, and Muhammed Sanni, aged 20. Preliminary findings revealed that the suspects are wanted in connection with an ongoing investigation into a kidnapping and murder case reported in the Okada area of Edo State.

Further intelligence gathered by the command indicates that the suspects are alleged members of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate linked to the incident under investigation.

During the course of the investigation, operatives recovered one pair of police camouflage uniform and three mobile phones from the suspects. The exhibits have been properly documented and taken into custody to aid further investigation,” the statement read.

The Ogun State Police Command noted that the offences under investigation were committed outside the state and disclosed that the suspects, along with the recovered exhibits, would be transferred to the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and possible prosecution in line with inter-state policing procedures.

Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the professionalism and diligence of the officers involved in the operation, describing the arrests as a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and violent crimes.

Ojajuni reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring that Ogun State does not serve as a safe haven or transit route for criminals and pledged sustained collaboration with other state police commands to tackle insecurity.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies to help combat criminal activities across the country.
