WARRI: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has been selected for the Award of Excellence in Leadership at the 2025 International Conference on Hydrocarbon Science and Technology (ICHST), organized by the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Delta State.
In an official notification signed by the PTI Registrar, Mr. Isaac Fregene, the institute commended Oborevwori for his outstanding leadership, policy innovations, and contributions to sustainable growth in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
According to PTI, the award recognizes the governor’s dedication to excellence, inclusivity, and innovation in promoting economic development and stability within the hydrocarbon industry.
His administration’s initiatives, the statement added, have become a model for effective governance and environmental sustainability in the nation’s energy landscape.
Themed Transforming Africa’s Hydrocarbon Sector: Balancing Growth, Environment, and Governance, the 2025 ICHST will bring together leading policymakers, regulators, and industry experts.
Expected participants include representatives from the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and the NNPC Academy.
The conference is scheduled to hold from October 22 to 23, 2025, at the PTDF Towers, Central Business District, Abuja, with the award presentation taking place during the opening ceremony on Wednesday, October 22, at 10 a.m.
PTI noted that the honour underscores the growing recognition of Delta State’s pivotal role in advancing energy transformation and environmental responsibility under Oborevwori’s administration.
“The governor’s leadership has positioned Delta as a strategic player in Nigeria’s energy transition and governance reforms, the institute stated.
The International Hydrocarbon Conference serves as a key platform for fostering dialogue and collaboration on sustainable practices in Africa’s energy sector.
