A Nigerian woman, Nihinlolawa Agboro, and two of her children have died following a tragic road accident in the United States.
The victims were identified as Agboro, 44, alongside her children, Temiloluwa, 18, and Isaac, 22. The fatal crash occurred on March 15 along U.S. Highway 90A in Fort Bend County.
According to authorities, the incident involved a truck and a sport utility vehicle carrying five occupants. The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said the truck lost control, crossed the median, and collided head-on with the SUV.
The impact caused the truck to overturn and burst into flames, setting both vehicles ablaze. Agboro and her two children were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other occupants of the SUV, a four-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, survived but sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition. The truck driver was also hospitalised.
Authorities said investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the crash, including whether alcohol or speeding contributed to the incident. They added that charges are expected to be filed as the investigation progresses.
The deaths have sparked grief among members of the Nigerian community in Texas and on social media, where many described the incident as a devastating loss to the family and the wider diaspora community.
A relative of the deceased, Lola Oni, mourned the victims in a social media post, expressing heartbreak over the tragedy and praying for the repose of their souls.
