LAGOS: The Nigeria Communications Commission, NCC, has resolved to hold a crucial industry Stakeholder Consultative Forum in Ikeja, Lagos on Tuesday June 15th at the Marriott Hotel.
According to a press statement signed and released by the Public Affairs Director, Nnenna Ukoha, the forum is being held on the consultancy study for the determination of mobile termination rates in Nigeria

The Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), therefore notifies all telecom licensees, industry stakeholders and the general public that it will hold an Industry Stakeholder Consultative Forum on the Consultancy Study for the Determination of Mobile Termination Rates (MTR) in Nigeria being undertaken by Messrs. KPMG.
The study forms part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to ensure that telecommunications services are cost-based and pricing remains transparent, fair and responsive to prevailing market conditions.
The outcome will support the development of an appropriate regulatory framework for interconnection pricing, promote effective competition, encourage efficient investment in telecommunications infrastructure, and safeguard consumer interests.
“The study covers the telecommunications interconnection ecosystem and will assess the cost and operational characteristics of licensees involved in the origination, transit, conveyance and termination of telecommunications traffic on public telecommunications networks in Nigeria.
It will examine relevant network, traffic, operational and financial parameters required for the development of a robust cost model for mobile termination services and the determination of appropriate termination rates”, Ukoha disclosed.
She further disclosed that the Forum is intended to provide participants with an overview of the study objectives, scope, methodology and work plan. It will also facilitate discussions on the proposed data collection templates and requirements, while providing stakeholders with an opportunity to offer comments, clarifications and relevant industry insights to support the successful execution of the assignment.
