Sandra Okunzuwa has revealed that acting in romantic scenes affected her personal life, leading to the end of one of her past relationships.
The Nollywood actress made the disclosure during an interview on the BTS Reality Show, where she spoke about the emotional challenges actors face while performing intimate scenes on set.
According to Okunzuwa, many people wrongly assume actors enjoy such scenes, but she said the reality is different because of the presence of production crew members during filming.
She explained that kissing scenes are often uncomfortable, noting that having many people around while shooting makes it impossible to feel any real emotional connection.
The actress said she would not mind if such scenes were removed entirely from films, as she believes audiences can still enjoy compelling stories without them.
Recounting a personal experience, Okunzuwa said a former boyfriend confronted her after he was sent a video clip showing her kissing a colleague during a movie shoot.
She said the incident eventually contributed to the breakdown of their relationship, adding that many partners struggle to separate on-screen performances from real life.
“These things affect our personal relationships. For instance, I had to leave a relationship because of this,” she said.
Okunzuwa added that she understands why some people are reluctant to date actors, especially actresses, because of the demands and realities of the profession.
She noted that the entertainment industry requires a level of trust and understanding that not everyone is prepared to offer in a relationship.
