A video capturing the moment Grace Nation church founder, Pastor Chris Okafor, returned to his church has stirred reactions online.
The pastor had temporarily stepped aside from his pastoral duties weeks ago following a public controversy involving actress Doris Ogala, which surfaced shortly after his wedding.
Doris Ogala had accused the cleric of persuading her to leave her marriage and starting a relationship with her, only to later abandon her and marry another woman. She also made several other allegations against him and vowed to reveal more details at the time.
Following the allegations, Pastor Okafor publicly apologized from the pulpit and announced his decision to step down temporarily.
On February 1, the pastor made his return to church, and videos from the service show that he was warmly received by church members.
A red carpet was laid at the entrance of the church as members, dressed in uniforms, lined both sides while Pastor Okafor and his wife walked in together.
Some members held placards with messages such as the shepherd is home, Welcome home daddy, we love you always, and Your sheep await your blessings.
The couple was later seen making a celebratory entrance into the main church hall as members cheered, danced and rejoiced.
An officiating minister welcomed Pastor Okafor back to the pulpit, after which he addressed the congregation.
We are back to do what God ordained us to do,” he said, before breaking into a synchronized dance with his wife.
Church members were visibly excited as music played and the atmosphere turned festive.
