GOVERNOR OBOREIWERI’S THREE Rs LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY (Someone in the Nat’l Assembly in mind)by Iwemdi Nwaham

ASABA: Governor Oborevwori’s recent address to political office holders in the state, where he articulated a transformative leadership philosophy centered on what he termed “the Principle of the Three Rs”, will strengthen the APC’s foundation in Delta State and ensure lasting political harmony.

In his speech at a recently held stakeholders meeting, Governor Oborevwori enjoined office holders, politicians and stakeholders across the state to embrace a leadership approach built on three fundamental pillars that he believes are essential for sustainable party growth and cohesion.

The first R, Respect, focuses on the importance of according due reverence to party leaders at all levels. Governor Oborevwori stressed that a culture of mutual respect creates an environment where experienced politicians feel valued and younger party members benefit from mentorship and guidance.

The second R, Recognition, focuses on giving leaders a sense of acknowledgment for their efforts and contributions to the party’s success. Governor Oborevwori emphasized that recognition goes beyond verbal appreciation, and involves tangible actions that demonstrate awareness of leaders’ roles in building and sustaining the party.

The third R, Relevance, addresses the critical need to ensure that party leaders remain actively engaged and influential in party affairs. By making leaders relevant, more opportunities will be for their continued participation in decision-making processes and ensuring their voices carry weight in party deliberations.

Governor Oborevwori’s Three Rs philosophy is a demonstration of political maturity and strategic thinking that sets him apart from conventional politicians who often neglect party structure in pursuit of personal ambitions.

The governor’s articulation of these principles shows a leader who understands that sustainable political success is built on strong party foundations, not individual popularity. The governor’s emphasis on respect, recognition, and relevance of leaders reflects a commitment to building a united, strong, and formidable APC in Delta State.”

By institutionalizing Respect, Recognition, and Relevance, Governor Sherriff Oborevwori is creating a template for how political parties should operate, not as loose associations of individuals pursuing personal interests, but as cohesive organizations bound by shared values and mutual appreciation,”

Governor Oborevwori has shown through his actions that he believes in building bridges rather than walls, in uniting rather than dividing, and in strengthening the party structure through inclusive leadership,

Implementation of the three Rs has created a more harmonious political environment in Delta State, reduced unnecessary tensions within the party, and demonstrated that leaders with different perspectives can work together effectively when mutual respect and common purpose prevail.

In Nigerian politics, we have seen too many leaders who speak eloquently but fail to follow through with action. Governor Oborevwori is different. When he says he will respect, recognize, and maintain the relevance of leaders, he doesn’t just say it, he does it.

Political differences need not become personal animosities and that leaders can maintain their individual identities while working toward common goals.

Political office holders and politicians across Delta State should embrace Governor Oborevwori’s Three Rs philosophy in their own spheres of influence.

The governor has shown us the way. Now it is our responsibility as political office holders and party members to ensure that we practice these principles in our interactions with leaders at all levels. We must respect them, recognize their contributions, and ensure they remain relevant in party affairs.

Leadership is all about creating systems and cultures that outlive individuals, not ones that will die fast when we are out of office. And Governor Oborevwori is building such a culture through his Three Rs philosophy, and history will record his contributions to Delta State’s political development.
