Federal Government Increases NYSC Monthly Allowance to N77,000 for 2025

Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has announced that corps members will begin receiving a new monthly allowance of N77,000 starting in February 2025. This increase comes as part of the Federal Government’s 2025 budget and is expected to take effect once the budget is officially passed.

Ahmed made the announcement during a visit to Katsina State on Thursday, where he addressed the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members. He explained that the increment will significantly boost the allowance, moving from the previous N33,000 to N77,000, providing greater support to corps members during their service year.

“This month (January) has already ended, but once the 2025 budget is approved, starting from February, you will begin receiving N77,000, replacing the previous N33,000 allowance,” Ahmed stated.

The NYSC DG also emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to the welfare and security of corps members, urging them to reciprocate by serving with dedication and responsibility.

He reassured the corps members that the government prioritizes their safety and will not post them to areas with security challenges. We will not send our corps members to any areas with security risks. Wherever we assign them, they can rest assured that the area is secure for them to carry out their service, Ahmed assured.

This move reflects the government’s recognition of the critical role played by corps members in national development, and the increased allowance aims to ease their financial burdens while encouraging a more productive and secure service year.
