LAGOS: Senior Advocate of Nigeria and human rights lawyer, Falana and Falana, has challenged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to report him to the Legal Practitioners’ Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) over his recent legal commentary on the Rivers State political crisis.
In a statement titled “I Did Not Lie Against the Supreme Court of Nigeria”, Falana dismissed Wike’s accusations of misrepresenting the apex court’s decision regarding the defection of 27 lawmakers in Rivers State.
He described Wike’s claims as baseless and an attempt to turn the Supreme Court against him.

Responding to Wike’s public criticism, where the minister accused him of spreading misinformation during a Channels TV appearance, Falana reiterated that he had merely stated that the issue of defection was addressed suo motu by the Supreme Court while still pending before the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt.
Falana insisted that he had not lied about the judgment, citing video evidence and an affidavit from the lawmakers confirming their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He maintained that his commentary was well within his constitutional rights.
