Reality television star Phyna and skit maker Carter Efe emerged victorious in their respective celebrity boxing bouts at Balmoral Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring event held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The high-profile boxing event, held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, featured a mix of entertainment personalities and professional fighters, with Phyna making history after knocking out Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing in Nigeria’s first female celebrity boxing contest.
Ghanaian boxer Seth Freezy Macbones Gyimah also claimed the headline victory of the night, defeating Nigerian champion Godday “Zodsolo” Appah by unanimous decision to win the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship.
Phyna, whose real name is Josephina Otabor, stopped Nkechi Blessing during their scheduled four-round celebrity bout.
The victory gave Phyna a place in the history of Nigerian celebrity boxing as the winner of what the report described as the country’s first female celebrity boxing bout.
After the fight, the former Big Brother Naija winner immediately turned her attention to another Nollywood actress, Etinosa Idemudia, whom she challenged to a future bout.
Phyna said she had been provoked by Etinosa through direct messages and indicated that she was ready to settle the rivalry inside the boxing ring.
Etinosa, who watched the contest from ringside, accepted Phyna’s challenge.
She told Phyna that she had previously advised her to represent the Edo identity with pride and said she was ready for the proposed fight.
The exchange immediately added another potential celebrity contest to the growing Chaos in the Ring series.
Phyna also received ₦50 million as the winner of her historic bout.
Following her victory, she indicated that she was interested in pursuing boxing professionally, suggesting that her celebrity boxing debut could develop into a longer-term sporting career.
In another celebrity contest, Carter Efe defeated musician Speed Darlington by technical knockout.
Efe controlled much of the four-round contest before the referee stopped the fight after Speed Darlington stopped moving.
The victory extended Carter Efe’s unbeaten record in the Chaos in the Ring celebrity boxing series.
Carter Efe had previously defeated singer Habeeb “Portable” Badmus in another celebrity boxing contest held on May 1, 2026, at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.
That three-round bout went the distance, with Efe securing a unanimous-decision victory after all three judges scored the contest 30-27 in his favour.
The rivalry between Carter Efe and Speed Darlington had intensified before their meeting, with both entertainers trading confrontational remarks during the build-up to the fight.
The dispute was ultimately settled in the ring, where Efe secured the victory.
The main event produced another major result as Ghanaian boxer Seth Freezy Macbones” Gyimah defeated Godday “Zodsolo” Appah to claim the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship.
Gyimah won by unanimous decision, bringing Appah’s reign as champion to an end.
The result added a professional championship dimension to an event that otherwise attracted significant attention because of its celebrity boxing contests.
The Chaos in the Ring event brought together entertainment personalities and professional boxers for an evening featuring celebrity rivalries, crossover contests and championship boxing.
The event was broadcast live on SuperSport and DAZN, while Bet9ja powered the fight card.
With Phyna’s historic victory, Carter Efe’s continued unbeaten run and Gyimah’s championship win, the Lagos event produced several headline-making moments across both celebrity and professional boxing.
