WARRI: Nigerian human rights activist, Israel Joe, has condemned the alleged assault of a young woman by a married woman identified as Asagba Enibaby Shontelle in Warri, Delta State.
According to reports, the suspect allegedly used a razor blade to slash the face and body of the victim over claims that the young lady was involved in a romantic relationship with her husband.
The incident, which has sparked outrage on social media, reportedly occurred in Warri, where the suspect was later arrested and taken into police custody.
In a Facebook post shared on Friday, May 22, 2026, Israel Joe revealed that the suspect was being detained at the A Division Police Station in Warri. He also alleged that attempts were being made by the woman’s family to secure her release on bail.
The activist vowed to ensure that justice is served for the victim, who is currently receiving medical treatment for the injuries sustained during the attack.
Condemning the incident, Israel Joe stated that no individual should use wealth or influence to evade justice, stressing that the law must take its full course regardless of social status.
He further disclosed that he had contacted the Divisional Police Officer handling the case to register his interest in ensuring the victim gets justice.
The activist also warned that the suspect would face prosecution in court, insisting that violent attacks over relationship disputes should not be tolerated in society.
The alleged razor blade attack has since generated reactions online, with many Nigerians calling for strict legal action against the suspect and demanding justice for the injured woman.
